This story was brought to you by TeamSnap
My son started his second season of soccer last month. He is finally starting to come out of his shell and enjoy the game. He loved playing from the very first practice but being aggressive to get the ball did not come naturally. I am so happy to see him playing on the same team with the same coach again this year. It makes learning a new sport much easier on him when he sees familiar faces and has a regular schedule. Routine is so important.
Last year his coach introduced us to TeamSnap. It is a program that is used to organize your team. As a parent of a child on the team, I downloaded the app to my iPhone and created a login. Now I have all of the team’s schedule right at my fingertips without the hassle of group text messages or missed emails. No need to call around to other players or the coach on bad weather days to see if a game was canceled. The app even offers notification settings if I don’t want to worry about opening it to get the update.
When I open the app there are several options available to me. I can view our team roster which gives me the names of each child on my son’s team. This is a great feature to help my son learn names of new teammates and also comes in handy at the end of the season for gifts.
The overview shows details about our team including our current record/score, next game and last game. This provides a quick glance of the team’s current status.
The schedule is just that, our team schedule. Our coach lists our practices and games here.
We can easily see any changes in red. In Texas lately we have had a lot of rainy weather and several of our games have been rescheduled. Because of all the reschedules we had to cancel our Thursday night programs to allow time to makeup regular games.
When we click on a specific game on the schedule it opens up to give more information for that day.
Our coach lists which field we are playing on, which teammate is responsible for the snacks after the game and the team we are playing against. Plus, of course the day and time of the game is provided.
I remember when my daughter was playing soccer ten years ago I just wished we had something like this to keep us organized. TeamSnap would have come in handy so the team mom didn’t have to make sure everyone was contacted. Heck back then not everyone even had a mobile phone with text messaging so it wasn’t easy to coordinate. Our coach was even able to inform us about team photos through TeamSnap.
I highly encourage you to try out TeamSnap for your child’s team or if you are a coach. You can signup for a free 21 day trial online and TeamSnap offers both free and paid versions with different benefits. Find out what works best for your team!
Full Disclosure: I was compensated for my time sharing information about TeamSnap with you. All opinions are 100% my own and our team loves using this app for coordinating our players.
