Back to School – First Day Photos 2015

School started on Monday and it’s amazing to compare how much the kids have grown in the last year.  T is starting her senior year of high school, Gabby is finishing her last year of middle school in 8th grade and Noah has moved up to third grade.  All three of them had mixed emotions about going back to school. A little sad to see summer over and a little excited to start a fresh year with their friends.

Tapanga's 1st day of Senior year

Unfortunately Tapanga leaves so early in the morning that it is still dark outside, so her first day photos were taken inside the house with bad lighting.  But hey, at least we got one!  I’m sad that this is her last year of high school but very excited for all the things coming her way.  I plan to take photos of her on the first day of college too.

Gabby's 1st day of 8th grade

Gabby has now decided she’s going by Gabrielle in school and not Gabby.  I’m trying my best to call her Gabrielle at home too.  We will see if it lasts.  She’s been Gabby for over 13 years.  She still loves to read, colors regularly, listens to music constantly and we enjoy watching Teen Wolf each week together.

Noah is still my little gamer.  He doesn’t only play electric games either.  Although he loves his iPod and Xbox, he loves playing board games each week as a family, card games and is learning Chess.  He’s a master at Tic-Tac-Toe as well.  He just started his third season of soccer and completed a soccer camp this summer.  He is eager to start robotics this year and is really good at math – that’s my boy!

I had fun putting together their first day of school lunches.

Lunch with Love

Instead of spelling out Eighth for Gabby, I just put Love.

Third Grade Lunch

Today for their school lunches I saw a cute idea on Pinterest and decided to give it a shot with my own version.  I turned their sandwiches into mock donuts.

Although the sandwiches had turkey, mayo and spinach on them – they look like donuts.  It was simple to create by using my small flower cutter for the middle.  I added the three ‘donut holes’ to my oldest’s lunch.  The sprinkles on top gave them the true donut touch.  They are not stuck on there and will fall off, it’s honestly just for looks.  The kids thought it was cute and that’s all that matters.

Sorry for the terrible iPhone pics.  This is what happens when the husband goes to work early.

Are your kids back in school? What grade?  Do you pack their lunch each day?
